  1. Just a thought: Many times we as teachers respond poorly to critical feedback because we don’t feel the support of our administrators. I know that personally I respond to critical feedback where I am at now ,ice better than in some other places for this reason. It is important for teachers to hear “we are in this together — let’s work on this” rather than “you are doing this wrong — fix it”. Perhaps some of the applicants simply never had a good school culture for the sharing of critical feedback.

    • This is a great point, Dave. Yes, a person’s former school culture is important to weigh in as they respond to questions. I worked with a coach who taught me to always include “support” in my feedback so that I hold myself accountable for thinking of how we can support the teachers in achieving the feedback.
